The Lázaro Galdiano Museum represents one of the capital's most fascinating and intimate cultural experiences.

This private-origin center is the former Neo-Renaissance residence of the illustrious financier, publisher, and bibliophile José Lázaro Galdiano. Passionate about beauty and culture in all their expressions, he conceived this mansion not only as a home shared with his wife Patricia Bolognini, but as a true temple destined to hold his exceptional, encyclopedic vision of art.

The heart of the museum consists of a monumental collection of more than 12,600 pieces gathered over six decades of tireless collecting. Following Lázaro Galdiano's death in 1947, his entire legacy was bequeathed to the Spanish State.

Across its rooms distributed over four floors, visitors immerse themselves in an exceptional picture gallery featuring masterpieces of Spanish and European painting. Highlights include one of the finest private collections of Francisco de Goya, with iconic canvases on superstition and witchcraft such as Witches' Sabbath and The Witches, alongside works by renowned masters like Hieronymus Bosch, El Greco, Diego Velázquez, Lucas Cranach the Elder, and John Constable.

Beyond painting, the museum's charm lies in its impressive display of decorative and luxury arts, where silverware, ivories, Renaissance enamels, textiles, weaponry, and hand fans engage in a harmonious dialogue in every corner.
